Welcome to “Marhaba,” a blog from the Norwegian Refugee Council, and a discussion about the human side of the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
NRC staff will help tell the stories of the people, the families and the communities behind the overwhelming statistics.
NRC has programs in Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan, offering assistance and protection to over 330,000 refugees from Syria. Roughly 550 NRC staff work to provide shelter, education, water and sanitation, as well as information, counselling and legal assistance to refugees and to the communities that have received them.
With Marhaba, we will explore the day-to-day challenges facing refugees from Syria, and encourage a global dialogue to promote more effective protection for everyone that has been touched by this humanitarian catastrophe.
